Marmara Equator marble is one of the most important marble species of Turkey with Afyon White marble. Original striped structure of Marmara Equator makes marble unique when compared to other marble species. Apart from main Marmara Equator selection; there are also two selections named Marmara Panda and Marmara Grey. Because Marmara Marbles contain high ratio of sulfur minerals; they mostly applied the areas that need hygiene like hamams. In order to prevent bacteria reproduction in wet grounds; Marmara Marbles mostly used by Ottoman architects in many hamams and wet areas. Due to our well known marble varieties, Marmara Equator marble is known also as Marmara Zebra marble, Marmara Pyjamas marble, Bleu Striata Marble or 直纹白玉 (Zhí Wén Báiyù) in China market. Marmara Equator marble can be produced with polished, honed, raw, sandblasted, antiquated hammered surface treatments according to customer demand.

The history of Marmara Equator marble dates back to ancient times. Thanks to its durability and aesthetic appearance, it is preferred as a column and cover marble in old buildings. Marmara Equator marble has its own unique structure and separated from other white marble selections with gray striped structure. The Marmara Equator marbles extracted from the marble quarries around Marmara Island in Turkey and blocks are processed in the environmental factories and presented as projects with slabs or cut-to-size material. Although the strip structure is very similar, there is a quality difference between the blocks. The quality of the Marmara Equator marble varies with the smoothness of successive gray veins and the clearness between the veins. The fluctuation of the veins in the plaques reduces the quality of the marble. 1st class marble selection is preferred in projects that are specially designed and decorated such as business center, hospital, hotel and villa.

Marmara Equator marble prices are determined on a project basis. 2 cm polished slab prices vary from $ 27 / m² to $ 35 / m² depending on quality. The most preferred and cost / performance size for the projects is 2x60x60 cm. The remaining small pieces from the slabs and cut-to-size material produced in the factories are sent to the blasting marble factory for split-face and mosaics processing.
